POLICE BEAT...

  • A West Cleveland Ave. resident reported to Monterey Police K-9 Officer Larry Bates that  someone  entered his residence while he was asleep thru the back door, taking his pants that were hanging on his bed post and stole his wallet that contained his driver’s license, social security card, bank cards and more, including cash and car keys.
  Also taken was a pistol, three old pieces of currency that he had for over 30 years. The man reported that the thief had also entered his vehicle and had taken a Garmin GPS.
   • Justin Taylor, 30, of Kentucky was arrested on outstanding warrants from Scott County and also from Kentucky after Monterey Police Officer Donathan Durham made a traffic stop.
   • Richard Lonard Smith II, 20 and Jake Dylan Wood, 20, both of Monterey were cited in lieu of arrest for underage consumption of alcohol after Monterey Police Officer Donathan Durham found two quarts of what he determined to be moonshine.
  • David Wayne Ledbetter, 41, of S. Poplar St. was arrested on outstanding warrants from
White County after Monterey Police Sgt. Chad York made an investigation.
  • Jennifer Faye Charlton, 28, of Monterey was charged with driving on a suspended driver’s license after Monterey Police K-9 Officer Larry Bates stopped a vehicle. According to the report, she was issued a state citation and her 1996 Chevy van was seized in accordance with state law.
   • William Gary Rinehart, 69, of Monterey was charged with DUI after Monterey Police Officer Donathan Durham made an investigation on the Clarkrange Hwy.
   • Christopher Eric Hicks, 34, of Winfield, TN was charged with driving on a revoked driver’s license after Monterey Police Officer Donathan Durham made an investigation on Industrial Drive.
 • Joey Allen Stults, 33, of Standing Stone Dr. was arrested on two out warrants after Monterey Police K-9 Officer Larry Bates made an investigation.
   • Jolynn Vaughn, 31, of Monterey was charged on four violation of probation warrants after Putnam Deputy Gabriel Frizzell went to Cliff Springs Rd. with Overton County deputies and located the suspect.  
  • A Muddy Pond Rd. resident reported to Putnam Deputy Larry Bennett that someone had entered his home and took $360 from under a mattress, 20 Percocet pills, 65 Zanax pills, 64 Dielants, 20 blood pressure pills and 40 Zoloft pills, along with keys to a Chevy Lumina.
   • Caleb Lee Jones, 22, of Monterey was charged with DUI and  Brian Edward Lane, 18, of Monterey was charged with DUI by allowing and simple possession of marijuana after Putnam Deputy Chris Miller and Deputy Matthew Hickey stopped a vehicle on S. Maple and Capshaw, in Cookeville.
   • Bryan Casey Dyer, 24, of  Monterey was charged on a capias after Putnam Deputy Randy Brown went to booking and served Dyer with the warrant.
   • Lucas Daniel Cooper, 23, of Monterey was arrested on a court capias after Putnam Deputy Randy Brown met Overton County deputies in Monterey, who already had him in custody.
   • Stepphen Miller, 22, of Monterey was arrested on an active warrant after Putnam Deputy Gabriel Frizzell found the suspect walking on Elm Street.
   • Gwendolyn Annette Ledbetter, 30, of Monterey  was charged on two warrants after U. S. Marshal’s Task Force Sgt. Pat Storie made an investigation.
   • Lee Alton Whittaker, 29, of Monterey was charged after Putnam Deputy Roy Phipps and Monterey Police Sgt. Chad York answered a disturbance call on Evergreen Lane.
   • Joey Dewayne Kirby, 23, of Monterey was arrested on a capias after Putnam Deputy Scott Stockton met White County deputies.
   • William Noble Mash, 27 of Monterey  was charged on a court capias after Putnam Deputy John Pettit and Monterey Police Officer Donathan Durham made an investigation at Mt. View Market about missing money.
  According to the police report, a Monterey business man had paid cash at the market and mistakenly left about $1,000 in cash on the counter. When he discovered what he had done, he returned to the store, but the money was gone.
  The clerk played the survellience tape back and found that three subjects had entered the store and a female is seen picking up the money and placing it into her purse. The three left the scene and drove back toward town.
  The vehicle, a silver truck, was located at a N. Holly St. address. Deputies John Pettit and Randy Brown, along with Officer Donathan Durham with the three subjects. A Henry Tennessee woman admitted to picking up the cash, but reportedly said that she did not know that it was illegal and thought that it was a “miracle from God.”
  Deputy Pettit explained that it was stealing to take something that belongs to someone else. The three put the money together and it added up to $1,040. The owner of the money was satisfied that he’d gotten all his money back and did not press charges.
   • Rosa Linda Sparks,  33, of Monterey was charged on a court capias and two violation of probation warrants after U.S. Marshal’s Task Force Sgt. Patrick Storie made an investigation.
  • Mark Allison Wilson, 28, of Monterey was charged on a violation of probation warrant after Putnam Deputy  Corp. Sam Lee made an investigation.
  • Delana Michelle Stamps, 35, of Crawford was charged on court attachment after Putnam Deputy Larry Bennett picked her up from Overton County deputies.
   • A Monterey man reported to Putnam Deputy Raymond Brown and Monterey Police Officer Donathan Durham that a friend of his who had a house on Buckner Road had asked him to check his house. The resident had been in Florida for the winter, but his electric bill seemed high at the Monterey residence.
  The friend checked the house and found lights on and the door open. Deputies found the residence “very warm” and someone had taken brown grout and scatted it on the hardwood floor. Police are still investigating.
